「TOEICってそもそもどんな試験なの？」
「実際にはどんな問題が出るのか見てみたい」
これからTOEICの学習を始める方の中には、このように感じている方も多いのではないでしょうか。
TOEICは大学受験や英検とは問題形式が大きく異なるため、いきなり単語帳や問題集に取り組むよりも、まずは試験全体の流れや出題形式を知ることが大切です。全体像が分かるだけで、「今、自分は何を勉強しているのか」がイメージしやすくなり、学習もスムーズに進められます。
この記事では、TOEICの基本情報に加え、Part1〜Part7までの問題形式を擬似問題付きで分かりやすく解説します。
まずはTOEICがどんな試験なのかを知り、学習の第一歩を踏み出していきましょう。

まずはTOEICの基本情報をサクッと確認
詳しい話に入る前に、TOEICの全体像を短くまとめておきます。

日本で単に「TOEIC」と言えば、基本的にこの L&R（リスニング＆リーディング） を指します。企業や大学が求めるのもほぼこちらです。
TOEICには他にも「TOEIC Speaking & Writing Test」もありますが、日本での知名度・実施頻度は圧倒的にL&Rの方が高いので、まずは L&R を受ければOKだと考えて大丈夫です。
なお、TOEICは 高校英語レベルが中心 で、細かい文法知識（仮定法過去完了とか第五文型とか）はほぼ問われません。 「基本単語・基本文法・正確に読む力・聞き取る力」 の4つが勝負を分けます。
【本題】パートごとの内容を擬似問題つきで解説
TOEIC L&Rは、リスニング（Part1〜4）とリーディング（Part5〜7）の 全7Part で構成されています。
🎧 リスニングセクション（Part1〜4／約45分・100問）
音声は 1回のみ。聞き逃しても戻れません。ナレーターはアメリカ・イギリス・カナダ・オーストラリアの4カ国のアクセントが混ざります。
「4カ国のアクセント」と聞くと身構えてしまうかもしれませんが、公式問題集や参考書の音声で慣れておけば十分対応できるレベルです。心配しすぎなくて大丈夫。
【Part1】写真描写問題（6問）
写真1枚につき、4つの英文が読み上げられます。写真を最も的確に描写している文 を1つ選びます。選択肢は問題冊子に印刷されておらず、すべて音声のみです。
Part1は全Partの中で最も易しく、ウォーミングアップ的な位置づけです。ここでしっかり得点を積んで、リズムを作っていきましょう。

「is 〜ing（今この瞬間の動作）」と「are being 〜ed（受動態の進行形）」の聞き分けが頻出です。たとえば “The documents are being reviewed.” と “They are reviewing some documents.” では、主語も動作の視点も違います。この違いを聞き分けられるかがポイント。
【Part2】応答問題（25問）
1つの質問または発言に対して、3つの応答 が読み上げられ、最も適切なものを1つ選びます。問題冊子には何も印刷されておらず、すべて音声勝負です。
短くてシンプルに見えて、集中力が切れやすく、初心者が最初につまずきやすいPart でもあります。

冒頭の疑問詞（When / Where / Who / Why / How）を絶対に聞き逃さないことが命綱です。ここを聞き逃すと、その1問はほぼ確実に落とします。

「Yes/No」で直接答えず、遠回しに断ったり答えたりするパターンが、最近のTOEICでは特に増えています。上の例では「今日は自分の弁当持ってきた」と言うことで、暗に「だから昼食は行かない」を伝えているわけです。
【Part3】会話問題（39問／13会話×3問）
2〜3人の会話が流れ、1つの会話につき 3問 に答えます。設問と選択肢は問題冊子に印刷されています。ビジネスシーン（会議・出張・電話・オフィス内のやりとり・店員と客のやりとり）が中心です。

【Part4】説明文問題（30問／10トーク×3問）
1人が話す アナウンス・スピーチ・留守電メッセージ・広告・ニュース・ツアーガイドの案内 などが流れ、1つのトークにつき3問に答えます。Part3より情報量が多く、長めです。

Hi, this is Karen Mitchell calling from Riverstone Consulting. I hope you’re doing well. I’m calling regarding the marketing analysis report that your team submitted to us last Friday afternoon. First of all, I want to say that the overall quality of the analysis was truly excellent, and our senior management was very impressed with the depth of the research.
However, while reviewing the document more carefully this morning, I noticed that the sales figures presented on page seven don’t quite match the numbers in the appendix at the back. The difference is only a few percentage points, but since this report will be shared with our client next week, we really need those numbers to be consistent throughout the entire document. Could you please double-check those figures and send me an updated version by Wednesday at the latest?
Also, in addition to that, our client has expressed interest in scheduling a follow-up meeting sometime next week to discuss your team’s recommendations in more detail. 冒頭で「話し手は誰か」「どんな場面か」を掴めるかどうか が、Part4の正答率を左右します。最初の1〜2文には全神経を集中させましょう。
📖 リーディングセクション（Part5〜7／75分・100問）
自分のペースで解けますが、75分で100問 はとにかくタイト。時間配分がスコアを左右します。
「自分のペースで解ける」と聞くと安心してしまいますが、実はリスニング以上に時間との勝負になります。ここが多くの人が初受験で最後まで解き終わらない理由です。
【Part5】短文穴埋め問題（30問）
1文の空所に入る適切な語句を4択から選ぶ、いわゆる文法・語彙問題です。1問あたり 15秒以内 で解けるようにするのが目安。

「the の後ろ+of」なので名詞が入る、と即答できるタイプ。とはいえ、空所の前後だけでなく英文全部を読むのがコツです。

「adhere to 〜（〜を遵守する）」という コロケーション（語と語の相性） を知っているかどうかで一瞬で決まります。
【Part6】長文穴埋め問題（16問／4長文×4問）
1つの長文に4つの空所があり、それぞれに語句または 1文 を入れます。Part5と違い、前後の文脈から判断する問題 が含まれるのがポイント。

Q134のような 文選択問題 は、文脈依存度が非常に高く、Part6ならではの問題形式です。前後の文の流れから、自然につながる1文を選ぶ必要があるため、単語や文法だけでは太刀打ちできません。
【Part7】長文読解問題（54問）
TOEIC最大の山場。 Reading Sectionの半分以上を占めます。
- シングルパッセージ：29問（1文書につき2〜4問）
- ダブルパッセージ：10問（2文書につき5問）
- トリプルパッセージ：15問（3文書につき5問）
出題される文書は、メール・広告・お知らせ・記事・チャット・請求書 など、ビジネスシーンでおなじみのものばかりです。

「Tell me about it」を直訳すると(A)を選んでしまう受験者が続出する、超典型的なひっかけ問題です。実際は「わかる〜、それな」という共感表現。こういう 口語表現の慣用的な意味 を知っているかどうかで差がつきます。

TOEICは難しい？初受験者へのメッセージ
問題そのもののレベルは高校英語が中心なので、決して手が届かない試験ではありません。ただし、多くの人が「難しい」と感じる最大の理由は 時間の短さ です。
特にリーディングは、初受験だと最後まで解き終わらない人が本当に多いです。時間切れになるのは普通のこと なので、落ち込む必要はありません。
「え、そんなに時間ないの？」と初めて知って驚く方も多いのですが、実はこれ、知っておくだけで初受験のショックが大きく減ります。 「解き終わらないのは自分だけじゃない、みんなそう」と分かっていれば、当日冷静に戦略的な選択ができます。
大事なのは、たった3つ。
- 英語力（読む力・聞く力）を地道に鍛える
- 試験形式に慣れる
- 正しい方向で学習する
最後に：勉強法に迷ったら
TOEICは、「とりあえず単語帳」「とりあえず問題集」だけでは、なかなかスコアが伸びません。大切なのは、何から・どの教材で・どの順番で・どこまでやるか を最初に決めておくこと。
特に初受験の方は、情報が多すぎて何から始めればいいか分からなくなりがちです。SNSやYouTubeで「これがおすすめ！」という教材がいくつも目に入って、結局どれも中途半端になる…というのは、初心者あるあるです。
